If your veterinarian is recommending to test for Addison's (usually done by a blood test called ACTH stimulation) I would do it. Addison's isn't very common, but after trying all the testing and treatments that you already have for your dog that were inconclusive and did not help, it's certainly the next step to see if maybe this is the answer. Usually Addison's is linked to findings on electrolytes (sodium potassium ratio), and as you said there were no significant findings when this test was performed on your dog, but keep in mind that not all cases have all symptoms. I turned 18 last year, which means I aged out of the system months ago. By the time DCF got involved with my family, I was already 17.5 years old (giving them very little to do with me). Can they do this? For someone that has NEVER been in legal trouble, how can I be deemed a danger? My home is very cluttered, with mice, bugs, rotting food, and bad smells. I live with my dad and ever since my mom died last June of cancer I've kind of been raising myself. I mostly eat at school, because the food is often expired and dad can't really cook. He has trouble seeing and hearing, and has some mental problems. All of this started when i asked my dad about a million times to get me an appointment with a councilor because I'm having a hard time grieving my mom. He shrugged it off, even though i made it clear that I really needed to speak with someone regularly. I have also been depressed, and when dad didn't take me to a councilor, I asked to go to the doctor. After a month he didn't do that either. So I talked to my guidance councilor about it and explained the home situation. Since dad wouldn't take me to the doc from just me asking we decided to have the nurse call and make an excuse for me to see the doctor, and he would have to take me. So he took me to the doctor and she suggested and demanded that my dad take me to a councilor. Two weeks later, he still hasn't even considered it. My guidance councilor considers this neglect and i sort of do too. So she called DCF. Honestly, I want to get out. I feel threatened by my dad's behavior and I don't feel safe at home. He often gets angry and has tantrums and tyrants, and takes it out on me. I'm 15 and I am a stubborn teenager but I don't do anything to make him angry because I'm afraid of him and what he might do. I've hidden that I have a boyfriend and my dropping grades from him out of fear. I don't want to live like this. I don't feel that my house is sanitary or that he is meeting my needs. I'm only 15 and i really can't raise myself and him. I have a few aunts who would gladly take me in and I know I would be much more comfortable and better taken care of with them. My dad doesn't like my mom's sisters and for some reason thinks they all carry guns and are horrible people. But he has no reason to believe that. If my dad doesn't want me to go with them would CPS not put me with them? Would I be able to leave at all?

My son is 20 months old and I have full custody cause his father has a lot of mental issues including anger problems. I had a restraing order too but it ran out. I told him that with his history of violence and the fact that I had tried to give him visitation would work against him. He started screaming at me and I decided to just hang up. When they came to my door on Monday I tried explaining everything to them and scheduled a visit for tomorrow morning. Can they do a drug test for this asanine reason? They have proof that he is on medication to prevent his dilusions (which he hasnt been taking and told me so himself) and they have the court documents about his violence and abuse. I'm just trying to live my life and move on from his bull****. I feel like they are allowing him to make me a victim again. He also sent a text to me on Monday saying "whatever happens next isn't my fault". Does anyone have any advice?

What should be done about a Red Eared Slider with clogged nostrils?

I have a young red eared slider who was lost for almost four weeks. Our neighbour found him caked with mud. After letting him rest in low-level, warm water for a few days, I returned him to the regular turtle tank. In both tanks, he didn't seem to eat at all. Upon closer inspection, I realized his nostrils seemed clogged. There was a tiny opening, but he couldn't breath out of it. His nostrils were almost invisible. I have a passion, I just don't know how to express it. I have always wanted to help people. I joined the Key Club at my school but it's a joke, so I quit. I want to ACTUALLY make a difference. I'm only in high school, though. My mom has a 501c3 nonprofit. She told me I could use to create a program. I go to public school and a lot of students come from low-income families and are on free or reduced lunches and can't go to the dances and stuff like that. I've always been fortunate enough to get to do all these things in more. But now I feel like I should help others. My best friend used to be well-off, but then her parents got divorced and her dad is a jerk and stopped paying child support and her mom was laid off last year. She has three older brothers. They had their electricity turned off for over a week before they went to the DCF and got it turned back on, but they are still on food stamps. They might have to move across the country, or even back in with their jerk-ish dad and psycho stepmom. I don't want any of this to happen, but what can I do about it? Anyway, I wanted to start a foundation or something that just raises money to help families and other groups out. Can I even do that if I use the 501c3 nonprofit?

Okay so it's really annoying me. I eat very healthy, exercise often, drink about 2 litres of water a day, keep my hands and face clean and avoid touching my face, use spot prevention cream morning and night and yet I still get spots, I mean my skin isn't really bad or anything just not very clear. i just got approved for food stamps and medicaid that i REALLY needed. My husband and I made a total of 14K in 2010. Our return was about 4500 because of our baby and EIC. We are waiting for it to be sent to my husbands account via direct deposit. Do we have to report this as income to DCF? Male cat marking while standing in liter box?

My male cat about 2 years old is neutered and has been checked by a vet and cleared for any UTI. We got him a couple months ago and lately he hasn't been squatting while peeing inside his liter box causing it to go on the floor and wall. We have been thinking it is some type of marking/spraying. My sister and her 3 kids are being abused?

They didn't give her custody.. moms are number 1 in the state of texas, when ishe heard that I wasn't gonna let her see the baby at all, she hired a lawyer all she did was spend a lot of money on the lawyer. If you guys go to court she might get visitation rights or she might not she's only the gramma not the mom.. so they they might not grant her with that or it will take a long time untill they sentence the visitations.. if your not to sure make an appt with a lawyer, you might need to get a lawyer. Is it wrong or selfish for me to fight to keep a family members baby?

I was asked to take care of a family members baby because the baby was placed with DCF and they wanted the child to be in a kinship placement. The mother also has three other children that are presently with her. The problem is that she has a hard time taking care of all of her children, she is always yelling at them and is not a very clean person and is partying and drinking and doing drugs while the children are in the home. well i have a friend who thinks i am never there for her. Sounds like you have it rough. If the situation is really getting bad, and it really seems like it is, I think you need to leave that environment. If you have any close relatives, stay with them for a while or maybe a good friend until you think your parents have their lives in control. Verbal abuse sucks, my parents did it all the time before I left for college. But sometimes you just have to learn to ignore it and realize you're not doing anything wrong, and you shouldn't let their irrational anger bring you down. I hope things get better for you.

So he took me to the doctor and she suggested and demanded that my dad take me to a councilor. Two weeks later, he still hasn't even considered it. My guidance councilor considers this neglect and i sort of do too. So she called DCF. Honestly, I want to get out. I feel threatened by my dad's behavior and I don't feel safe at home. He often gets angry and has tantrums and tyrants, and takes it out on me. I'm 15 and I am a stubborn teenager but I don't do anything to make him angry because I'm afraid of him and what he might do. I need medical advice and I don't know where to start?

3 weeks ago my doctor prescribed me Flagyl to cure bacteria in my body. After I finished the week prescription, I got a yeast infection. Last week I treated that and 3 days later I got a UTI. I have had it since Sunday. Monday I got a sinus infection and today I started my period. I am not a happy camper. I have had 2 liters of cranberry juice since Sunday, 32 oz of OJ, and lots of water. False Molestation Allegation?

This isn't about me and obviously I'm keeping the names out but a friend of mine is going through something really bad. Her husbands teenage daughter accused him of molesting her then coerced my friends 10yr old daughter to say he did it to her too. Eventhough the 10yr old has admitted that she lied and felt pressured they won't believe her. I've read all kinds of stories on how kids who are abused will recant because they're families torn apart but my friend has left the husband so there's no chance of them getting back together. This has been going on for almost a year now and the 10yr old is still claiming nothing happenned. I believe that my friend was forced to leave her husband, they made it clear that she wouldn't be able to have her daughter if she stayed married to him so I don't think it's because she believed something happenned. The thing is, they never arrested him. Is it possible at all that they could reunite as family and try to rebuild their lives? If DCF and CPC aren't involved and he was never arrested or even charged (they also only questioned him once and that was the day the accusation was brought to their attention), can they move on with their lives?

Can I get my two boys back if I stay at a shelter? Dcf took my two boys away from me back in Dec. bcos I was really depressed and I made a foolish mistake and cut my arm up. I go back to court in June to see if I get custody back of my two boys the problem is I'm stay'n with a guy that I've been know'n for along and my boys are not allowed around him because he failed a drug test and he won't participate in the service plan. I want to leave him and get back custody of my boys, but I've nowhere to go. I've no family here so I was wonder'n if I stayed in a shelter could I regain custody of my boys when I go back to court in June? I had my own place when I had my boys I was pay'n everythin bcos my 2 boys recieved SSI but when they were removed I lost everythng. I've been looking for a job but no success so far. Bloody pimple? Bacteria plug up?

I had this really inflated pimple that just didn't see to pop. BeCause of all the stretching and Stress put on it, it formed a sort of scab. I came off cuz the skin around it dried up and then the hole in the pimple bled alot. Is this just bacteria that was plugged up or is it bleeding cuz of the scab? My pimple is alot less inflated after it bled

I live with two people who just had a baby, and DCF came to the house and ordered everyone in the house to take a drug test. If your neighbor was on drugs like smoking crack and taking pills, and had a 14 year old child living in the home, is this considered as child abuse. I feel like I should say something especially since her son is more at my house than hers. Whenever there is drama he always seems to be sent to my house, like she kicked him out a couple weeks ago and he came and stayed with me, then her boyfriend died suddenly and he stayed with me a couple days, now she was baker acted for threating to kill herself and again he is with me. I dont mind helping him, but I have three children of my own that I am raising as a single parent and can not raise another child. I dont understand why the police have not contacted DCF yet, instead everyone says oh, he can stay with the neighbor. I really feel bad for him, but dont know what to do anymore. Should I report this myself as abuse to DCF? The examples I gave are just the recent events there has been other instances over the past couple years.

My husband got visitation's with my step daughter back in august 2010,since we started seeing her she has had an on going head lice problem,and we have spoken to her mother about it and she dont seem like she cares to much,we have notified dcf about it and they dont seem to do much but give her advice that she dont take anyway.She dont clean her home the way she should to take care of the problem,which we have told her how,and everytime my step daughter comes over we have to clean our house from top to bottom,and were we live we have coin-op laundry so it gets expensive,we have to pay like 30 dollers just to rewash everything,and we get the lice out every weekend when shes here to.Iv'e saw bugs in my house since she started coming to our house and i just thought they were coming in from the outside,recently ive been seeing more and while my step daughter was here she had told me they were bed bugs i asked her how she knew and she said her mom had bed bugs in 09,she said that her mom said they got rid of them but then again her mother tells us that shes going to take care of the head lice to so idk what to believe.My husband says i cant blame the mother because we dont know where they came from he said that some people in a total different building from us was complaining to the office about having bed bugs.I just dont know what to do i just have a gut feeling that his ex has them and that his daughter brought them when she came to visit.Im totally freaked out and cant sleep feeling that bugs are gonna crawl all over me the way i feel right now is that i just want out of here,my husband and i have been argueing about the headlice and bedbugs,i just want him to understand how i feel,he just says go to sleep and that im over the top about it but i cant help it.My husband and i have 3 boys of our own and i have a son from a previous relationship.

I have had some bad experiences with DCF but hopefully they will actually help your friend. They probably will not come out tonight unless they feel there is an immediate danger I could be wrong but I don't think so. Unless they feel her siblings are in danger they will not take them away. Please note that there is no guarantee she will be taken away (although it sounds like this would be the best thing for your friend). You will probably be asked about your friend some and may need to provide some details but they might just ignore you. Her mother will probably be made aware of the situation so be sure your friend is safe. They will talk to her, make sure she doesn't sound like she's lying, crying might help when she is interviewed but don't make them think she's acting. Hope everything turns out ok and she stops getting hurt, no one deserves this kind of treatment.

What is the safe LT275/70R18 Toyo M/T psi?

I have a set of Toyo M/T LT275/70R18 and I wonder what is the right amount of psi I inflate the tires to. Is it 80 psi or 40 psi as on regular stock tires. I checked the psi just now and it read out to 50 psi to all tires. Being that it is on a 1-ton truck it's got me confused.

Why has all 4 of my fish died?

I bought a fish tank for my nephew as well as 4 fish, can't think of the real names but a goldfish with huge inflated cheeks, a little chubby goldfish, and two tiny silver fish. I saved some water in some empty bottles so that it would be room temperature for when i came home ready to fill up the tank and put the fish in. Realising the water was a bit cold i put in some boiling water ( the fish were not in at this point) then some cold water and then some hot water from the tap. The water felt like it was at room temperature. Woke up this morning and all four fish were dead. Has the boiling water removed all the oxygen from the water? The tank has a 'water conditioner' with it which cleans the water but i don't think its anything to do with this. We were told not to feed the fish for the first day so we didn't. I was accepted for pregnancy Medicaid but the doctor I was going to for my prenatal visits before I got a accepted doesnt accept Medicaid and I no longer have the other insurance because I am no longer working. How much stuff can fit in a 30-40 liter backpack?

I'm really curious. I haven't started traveling just yet, but I'm still interested in traveling to places/different countries so I've been researching backpacks, what to bring, etc..and I've seen mixed advice...Some say that you would need a 60L or higher backpack to travel for several months, but other people (only a few), say that they've traveled for several months with just a 30 liter backpack, and it worked out just fine! They also said they packed lightly, but I wouldn't mind doing that; I'm just not sure what they meant by lightly! So how much can fit in a 30-40 liter backpack? Like how many sets of clothes, along with shoes, socks, underwear, and anything else that would be necessary? I'm mainly talking about for warm weather travel. But also, is it possible for a backpack that small to be used for winter travel?

Can I give my child up for adoption without the mothers consent?

My son is almost 8 months old. I have had him with me since he was 2 months old. DCF and Jewish Community Services placed the child with me after the mother decided to live with her mother in a different part of the state. When my son was born he had drugs in his system and that is how the authorities got involved. The mother was put on a case plan in November 2010 and it was to be completed within 6 months, when we went back to court. She didn't complete anything she was suppose to and continued to fail drug test. When i went back to court in April, she didn't show up and the judge gave me full custody. The mother only calls maybe once a month sometimes even longer. She has never given me any kind of support for him either. I'm just wondering since I have full custody of him if I could give him up for adoption without the mothers consent for any reason, or does she still have her rights and can prevent me from going through with the adoption?

A case for college reform?

College isn't for everyone, and it's not ideal. What's worse in my mind, though? A public school system that doesn't teach students how to think. All our K-12 education seems to teach is how to regurgitate information for a test. It doesn't teach critical thinking, analysis, world view, communication, etc. All of those skills are what takes a person farther in life, regardless of where they learn them. Why not teach these things to our kids from an early age? How you think is just as important as what you're thinking about. Education shouldn't be about being a mindless drone who can pass a test. That sets you up to do mindless tasks. If you know how to think, and can think about things in new ways, you become an innovator. You become someone who makes things happen. It's not to say that the world doesn't need some mindless drones, but we don't need 50% of our population to be that way. If we want to be world leaders, we need people who can think like them. I'm not just talking about college graduates, or the CEO who figures out a huge cost saving measure for their company. I'm talking about the plumber who figures out a better way to do his job, or the electrician who invents an energy efficient light bulb. If we had more people like that, and fewer people who were complacent, lazy, and unimaginative, we might not be stuck in this rut. That all starts early on, and it needs to continue through high school. How about we stop treating education like an industry, and start treating it like a service provided to young mind who want to learn? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying you're not going far enough.
